Say Thank You to your contribution

Since XMind was put into the marketplace, we have had many supporters from Germany.  Undoubtly, XMind German version, as a bridge or a link, quickly brings XMind close to our Germany users. This is definitely a key point.

Now we would like to solemnly introduce a nice friend from Germany, Mr. Jens Pipka, a senior consultant for IT Technology and Architecture since more than 15 years, who has done XMind German translation for us voluntarily since 2007. We have had a pleasant cooperation with him. During these years, each time when XMind released a new version,  Mr. Jens Pipka kindly did us a favor for German translation. It’s not a easy thing.  We never met each other. There is a sense of trust between us. We really appreciate for all the effort he has done for XMind these years.

And we also would like to say “Thank you” to all our contributors, who help us to do translations, who help us to figure out the reasons for bugs, who offer suggestions for improvements, who do beta test for us and etc. It’s our great honor to have such nice users. Thank you all!

Now XMind new version is around the corner, with your help, therefore, XMind could have this stable and wide development.

Use your own dictionary for spell checking in XMind

Posted on July 7th, 2010 in Featured, XMind Basic | 5 Comments »

Nowadays, we are getting used to spell checking whenever we write something. In XMind, you may meet this kind issue, when editing a topic, you expect that spell checking can help you to perfect your spelling.

Now in XMind, the default spell checking is in English. But our users come from all over the world, they speak all kinds of languages. This default spell checking couldn’t meet the need of users who come from non-English speaking countries.

If you come from non-English speaking countries, you may probably want to use your own dictionary for spell checking.

Here one of our users shared a useful website for you to find your own dictionary:
http://www.winedt.org/Dict/

Download the very dictionary,  change the extension to .dict , then add your own dictionary to XMind. (Edit > Preferences > Mind Map > Spelling)

After doing this, in XMind, you can enjoy spell checking for French, German, Spanish and etc. Very easy and useful, right? :) Whenever you need this, do not hesitate to give it a try.

Frequently Asked Questions in May

Posted on June 21st, 2010 in Featured | 4 Comments »

Me again to share some frequently asked questions in last month.

How could I change XMind display language?
XMind: XMind v3.1.1 has 5 language packages, English(en_US), Germany(de), Japanese(ja), Simplified Chinese(zh_CN) and Traditional Chinese(zh_TW). While you launch XMind, it will select the language pack depending on your computer’ formats. If your language is out of them, XMind will use English package as default.
Of course, you can decide which package your XMind use. It’s simple too.

  • Find out XMind.ini file*.
  • Open with any text editor tool.
  • Add the following two lines file to the beginning:
    • First line: -nl
    • Second line: en_US OR de OR ja OR zh_CN OR zh_TW

*XMind.ini file is at
the XMind installation folder on Windows/Linux or
the application package on Mac (Application folder/XMind (right click)/Show Package Contents/Contents/Resources/XMind(right click)/Show Package Contents/Contents/MacOS)

The second question is asked many times by some companies’ users. We are behind the proxy, how to use XMind Pro or upload map?
XMind: When XMind is launched, there will be a sign-in dialog. After signing in with your XMind Account, you can share the map with the world or enjoy all Pro features. If you access the internet via the proxy, you should have the same settings in XMind too.
Please modify the network settings at: Preferences/Network Connections.

The third question is a bug, losing inserted image. Some users insert images into XMind. But these images sometimes disappear after re-opening the XMind files.
XMind: This is a bug. After testing, we find it happens if you open the XMind files which have the inserted images via double-click. And we are trying to fix it in the coming version.

Thank you for all people who offer the feedback. If you have any questions or suggestions about XMind usage or XMind bugs or anythings, tell us.

Thank you all again!

XMind Pro Enterprise License

Posted on June 5th, 2010 in Featured, Uncategorized, XMind Basic | 1 Comment »

In the past months, we received lots of inquiries about XMind Pro Enterprise license. They told us that XMind Pro was good at enhancing the efficiency, saving working time, and wanted to know something about the Enterprise license support.

The full name of Enterprise license is XMind Pro Enterprise Unlimited License. Actually, it’s another type subscription code, which means all people within a company or an organization can enjoy XMind Pro. Of course, there is no limitation on the number of users.

Normally, we will recommend this Enterprise License to these inquirers only when the estimated user number is more than 100. In that case, it has the superior cost-effective. More important, only one license and a few special XMind accounts needed, so it’s very convenient for you to mange your team, department, and your company.

Interested in it? Please fill this form.

Here, we collect the most frequently asked questions in last month.

First one is from Nobuo a Japanese user.
“I have two PCs (my office and my home). So, I can ran one Pro version at a time. Should I purchase one license? Or I have to purchase two licenses even though?”

XMind: You only need one subscription code for all your PCs.
Being an XMind Pro user, you should have an XMind account, and then activate/renew your account with subscription code. Then with this activated account,  you can use XMind Pro on any computer which has XMind.

Second question is from Davy a French user and Florian a Germany supportor.

XMind: Of course, you can use XMind Pro offline.  The solution is:
Enable “Remember me on this computer” in the signin dialog while you signing in with your activated account. Then your XMind Pro will not ask you to sign in before the expiration date.

The last one has been asked by Many users from UK, Singapore, Spain, France, and etc.
“We would like to buy 10, or 30, or 50, please tell us the volume price.”

Some payment issues(modified)

Posted on March 11th, 2010 in Featured, XMind Basic | 1 Comment »

Some users have reported that they paid the money via Paypal. But after finishing the payment, they still did not receive the Subscription codes. This brings much trouble for users, esp some people are very urgent to enjoy the Pro features, such as Presentation, Audio Notes, TaskInfo and Gantt Chart.

This turned out to be the problem of not finishing the full procedure. The entire procedure to subscribe XMind Pro with Paypal is below:

  1. Visit the Purchase page, http://www.xmind.net/pro/buy/
  2. Click “Buy Now” button
  3. Confirm the order quantity and Fill the simple form, and click “Continue” button below.
  4. Now, you are on the Paypal page. Please fill paypal account and password to finish the payment here.
  5. After finishing the payment, Please do not close the browser, and wait the browser back to the “Thank You” page of XMind.net.
  6. When you see the “Thank You” page, XMind system will automatically send Subscription Code(s) to you via email within 8 hours.

Note: Your code(s) will be sent to Paypal account email, not the registered email on XMind.net.

Some users just didn’t wait for the browser back to “Thank you” Page. As a result, our server wouldn’t receive the sign to send out the subscription code automatically.Once this happened, do not worry, please send an email including the purchase date, receipt no., paypal account to Sales@XMind.net.  You will get the Code(s) within 24 hours.

iPad:A great mind mapping pad from Apple

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 in Discussion, Featured | 22 Comments »

Again, on Jan. 28, Apple brought us another big surprise, iPad. The whole world are crazy and talking over it. On Twitter, Facebook, blogs and etc, iPad has been everywhere. The only word to describe it may be “amazing”. iPad has the amazing idea, shape, design, and the philosophy.

Importantly, we also so agree with what Churk Frey has said in blog, “Mind mapping on the iPad could be incredibly cool!”.

You know, many investigations indicate that, pen and paper are still the first important tool for many people to do creative things, like mind mapping, planning and notes-taking, although there is a high-performance computer in front of them. During communication with XMind’s friends, we know that even the heavy users still draw maps on paper sometimes. Because we still like using our fingers.

iPad is totally different! It’s different than iPhone and iPod touch, which don’t suit for using mind mapping software, because of their own limitations. It’s different than Macs and netbooks. It’s even different than any other tablet PCs. It’s a brand-new platform. “It’s a game changer!”

XMind has begun the plan upon XMind for iPad. It’s brand-new, too. It’s totally re-invented. Of course, ease-to-use, powerful, humanity, and friendly will still be its character and specialty. We won’t be the first mind mapping software on iPad. You know, it’s XMind’s style. But we do believe that the XMind for iPad should become the best mind mapping software in the world. Even better than XMind for desktop!

If you have any idea about mind mapping for iPad, please feel free to contact us via ipad@xmind.net. Thanks!
